Undeclared Milk in Walkers Lights Sour Cream and Chive Flavour Crisps Sold in Variety 6 Pack

The Food Safety Authority published a new food allergen alert on the 16th of November 2012

Details : http://www.fsai.ie/news_centre/allergen_alerts/milk-Walkers.html

Anaphylaxis Ireland has also been provided with the following Information Notice  in relation to this product by Walkers Snack Foods Ltd

Information for Consumers with Milk and Lactose Allergy

It has been brought to our attention that due to a printing error, there are Walkers Lights packs in market with inaccurate information on pack.

This error affects two Walkers Lights flavours:  Simply Salted standard bags and Simply Salted and Sour Cream & Chive bags contained within Lights Simply Salted and Lights Variety 6 Packs.  The affected packs have Best Before Dates of 12-1-13 and 19-1-13.

Whilst all bags of Simply Salted and Sour Cream & Chive flavour Lights are correctly and clearly labelled on the front of the pack as normal and the product contained within the packs is correct with this front of pack information, the printing error means that Lights Simply Salted 24g standard packs and the Multipack individual inner bags have the ingredients for Sour Cream & Chive flavour printed on the back; and the Lights Sour Cream & Chive flavour Multipack inner bags have the ingredients for Simply Salted printed on the back.  The outer Walkers Lights multipack wrapping is not affected by this error and is correct as normal.

In the case of the Sour Cream & Chive flavour, this flavour is unsuitable for milk allergy sufferers.  Whilst this flavour is unlikely to be purchased by consumers with a milk allergy given the Sour Cream flavouring, this printing error may cause confusion regarding the mis-match between the information printed on the multipack wrapper and the back of the individual packs contained within. We are liaising with the Anaphylaxis Campaign to alert known milk-allergic consumers of this printing error.

We would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or concern caused to our valued consumers who may have noticed this error and we are acting immediately to rectify this mis-match as quickly as possible.  Please do call our Consumer Careline on 1800 509408 if you would like to talk to one of our team and we will of course, reimburse anyone who feels unhappy with their Lights purchase.

Mars Ireland has asked us to display the following notice

Undeclared Milk in Packs of  “My Dolmio Tomato & Basil Sauce Squeeze Me” Due to a Packaging Error.

Date: 19.12.2011               Allergen Alert: 2011.A20

Allergen: Milk.

Product identification: My Dolmio Tomato & Basil Squeeze Me; pack size: 2x65g; all batches; all best before dates.

Due to a packing error, some packs of the sauce identified above may contain one or two sachets of a Tomato & Cream sauce instead of two sachets of Tomato & Basil sauce. Milk is an ingredient of the Tomato & Cream sauce but not of the Tomato & Basil sauce. The Tomato & Cream sachet is clearly labelled “Tom & Cream” but this is not declared on the labelling of the outer pack. This may make the implicated sachets unsafe for consumers who have an allergy or intolerance to milk or its constituents.

Summary: The implicated sauce may be unsafe for those consumers who are allergic or intolerant to milk or its constituents
